Little Munchkins and Munchkins
Little Munchkins and Munchkins have the option of two different dresses. There is a satin dress with attached skirt or a tutu style dress. Both are a 1 piece pull up to make it easier for mum or dad. Students are welcome to wear short tan ankle socks or ballet tights. Munchkins doing tap and jazz will require tan tap shoes and tan jazz shoes. It is preferred that students hair is sprayed back and up into a bun for all classes. A bun is a secure way to keep the hair out of the way for the entire class. The little ones can be very easily distracted and if hair is falling out and in their face it can be a big distraction for them. Boys wear white BDA singlet with black BDA shorts and black jazz, tap or ballet shoes.
Ballet

Pre-Level’s - Test 3

A BDA leotard is required for class (Crop tops are not allowed for any ages) This must be accompanied by pink ballet tights and split sole pink ballet shoes. A single elastic strap on all ballet shoes is required. Please ensure you teach your child to tie the elastic at the front of the shoe into a bow and tuck it in to the shoe. This should not be sticking out.
Bronze Medal - Elementary
A BDA leotard is required for class (Crop tops are not allowed for any ages) This is to be accompanied by Pink ballet tights and Split Sole Pink ballet shoes. All students from Bronze Medal and above must have ribbons on their shoes, elastic is not allowed. Please ensure you teach your child to tie the elastic at the front of the shoe into a bow and tuck it in to the shoe. This should not be sticking out. Pointe students will require correctly fitted pointe shoes with inch wide ribbon.
Pink fitted ballet wraps are permitted to be worn in the colder months as these will not hide the students lines. No jumpers are permitted. These are available from the local dance shops. Students in Bronze Medal and above are permitted to wear a pink half tutu in class for dances. This will enable students to get used to wearing one as it can interfere with Port de Bras lines and students cannot see their feet when wearing one.
ALL students for ballet classes are required to have their hair sprayed back and into a bun that is secured properly on the head. Bobby pins need to be used so that the hair doesn’t fall out. A pink, black or white flower/bow to accompany the hair is always nice. Please do not send students into their ballet class with their hair in a ponytail. They will be asked to put it up into a bun.
Part of the discipline of ballet is the correct attire so this is extremely important.
Boys
Boys wear white BDA singlet with black BDA shorts. Boys wear black ballet shoes with a single black elastic strap.
Jazz and Musical Theatre

Pre-Level - Test 3 (Junior)

Students are able to wear a BDA leotard or Crop with either BDA Shorts, BDA 3/4 Tights or BDA Black Full length tights. All students will require Tan Jazz shoes (Dance Class preferred brand). Students can wear jazz tights but this is not compulsory. Hair is to be sprayed back and off the face. A bun is not necessary but if students have long hair it can get in the way when turning etc so keep this in mind. Braids are a great option for classes.

Tap

Contemporary and Lyrical

All Classes

Students are able to wear a BDA leotard or Crop with either BDA Shorts, BDA 3/4 Tights or BDA Black Full length tights. Students have the option of foot thongs, tan jazz shoes or bare feet. Hair is to be sprayed back and off the face. A bun is not necessary but if students have long hair it can get in the way when turning etc so keep this in mind. Braids are a great option for classes. Boys wear white BDA singlet with black BDA shorts. No shoes. Knee pads will be required.
Hip Hop

All Classes

Students are able to wear a BDA Crop, Leotard or a fitted singlet. These can be paired with any of the BDA bottoms but students are also allowed to wear baggy pants or 3/4 pants as long as they can freely move/stretch etc. Students will require a pair of high tops or similar street type shoe for hip hop. Students are not permitted to do hip hop classes in bare feet. Shoes must be worn. It is preferred that jazz shoes are NOT worn for hip hop. Hair is to be sprayed back and off the face. A bun is not necessary but if students have long hair it can get in the way when turning etc so keep this in mind. Braids are a great option for classes. Boys wear white BDA singlet with black BDA shorts or any baggy/cargo type pants, high top shoes or similar.
Acrobatics

All Classes

Students are able to wear a BDA leotard or Crop with BDA Shorts or BDA 3/4 Tights. No shoes are to be worn in acro. Students hair must be up in a bun for acro. Do not send students with their hair in a ponytail as they will be sent back out to you to have it put in a bun. Long hair in a ponytail can get caught and pulled so please have long hair up in a bun. Boys wear white BDA singlet with black BDA shorts. No shoes.
Performance Team Uniform

All Classes

There are several different pieces available for the Performance Team Uniform as shown in the picture. The only compulsory item is the jacket. Jackets will be ordered in in each students size so these will need to be tried on at the office and ordered from there. Other available pieces are shorts, singlet, crop and full length tights.
BDA Formal Shirts

All Classes

These shirts are a great quality shirt available for all students and parents that can be worn over dance wear to and from class, to competitions when dancing or supporting or just around town. These are personalised with your child's name and can be ordered from the office.
